Abstract

This work presents a reflection on the role of designers in the office to dialogue and propose design solutions that contribute to individual and collective well-being. This contribution is essential to foster sustainable thinking and hence the sustainability of society and the environment. The research methods involved the review and critical analysis of the literature on well-being, philosophical approaches applied in product design and the growing importance that well-being has acquired in studies related mainly to the economy, ecosystem and engineering solutions. As a result of this study it was understood that conscious experiences of well-being contribute to a healthier and more balanced life fostering hence eco-efficient thoughts and actions. For this reason, it is important that designers consider how the well-being can be taken into consideration in their designs so that the experiences of people with material goods, considered relevant in western culture, promote sustainable thinking and with determination redoubled, sustainability.
